Wedding Breakfast

With only 7 weeks to go until the big day, final preparations are all coming together.  This weekend we took a trip down to London to finalise plans for our wedding reception and wedding breakfast.

The menu tasting is something I have very much been looking forward to! We decided to go ahead with two different set menu choices that the hotel provide which meant we were able to taste two starters, two mains and two desserts. All I can say is they were ALL delicious! It is so difficult to choose what meal is best but when you are caring for 70 people then sometimes you have to think safe and think about what might please (nearly) everyone!

I am very happy with the food we have chosen and I hope that the guests are too.  I was worried the food may have been a little too gourmet as I am not a fan of overly decorative food.  Don’t get me wrong, presentation and taste can be spectacular however when it comes down to actually feeling full it seems gourmet meal doesn’t quite do that! You know me and my love for cheeseburgers and chips! However the meals we were given were plentiful and extremely tasty.

We met with our wedding planners Helen & Jennifer at Hotel Cafe Royal to visit the Pompadour ballroom and discuss how the layout of the room will work so that I can draft up table plans.  It was good to see the room partially set up to vision how it will work.

The Pompadour Ballroom is such a magnificent room.  I couldn’t be more happy with our choice of venue for our reception and wedding breakfast.  The ornate grandeur of the room just takes my breath away every time.  It was such a beautiful day in London too so the terrace was a perfect place to sit and catch your breath.  I’m praying for a sunny day for our day!!!

Following our menu tasting we all met with our wedding co-ordinator at St Paul’s Cathedral to have a brief run through the logistics so that they know where everyone is to be on the day.

St Paul’s is such a huge building that you really need a few walk arounds to understand the different entrances and way around the building.  Every time I see and stand in front of the Cathedral it still amazes me and the size overwhelms!

It was lovely to catch up with Helen & Jennifer to talk more about the big day and what my visions are.  They are so understanding and have been a massive help throughout this process.  I would highly recommend any bride-to-be to invest in a wedding planner if you can! I keep feeling like I need to be more stressed but in all honesty I’m quite relaxed (for now!).

During our trip down to London we were lucky enough to visit the Quintessentially Atelier  Wedding Fair at Langham Hotel.  This luxurious wedding fair featured the creme de la creme of wedding suppliers and it was lovely to see what new trends were around and meet more southern suppliers.

So, for now, with just a few final bits to get through we can start counting down to the big day!!! I’m sooo excited as it’s been a long time coming. The next time we are in London will be two weeks before the wedding to visit the White Gallery to choose new designers for the boutique and this will be when I will see my dress again (fingers crossed its perfect!) and then we really will be on countdown!
